American History II
8th Grade
Class objectives
American History II will explore the history of the United States from the Reconstruction Era up to Postwar America. The course will show the geographical, social, political, cultural and economic growth of the United States from the Post-Civil War to its rise to becoming a world power. Debates, critical essays, and primary sources will be used to analyze events and themes in further detail. A research paper connected to an event, period, institution, or person from the “Roaring Twenties” will also be developed and completed in the Spring Semester.
We will be studying the following events in American History this year:

Historical Biography
This class also has a biography to complete from the A Wicked History 20th Century: Joseph Stalin. This book will be read both inside and outside of class and will include a reading guide and project that coincide with the subject matter
