WORLD SOCIAL STUDIES II
6th Grade
Class objectives
The purpose of this course is to understand the concepts and methods used in social studies and to develop reasoning and information-processing skills. It will focus on individuals and events that have significantly influenced culture and history. The course will not just be a focus on history but will explore aspects of economics, science and technology, geography, world religions, culture, citizenship, and government as well.
World Social Studies is a two-part course for fifth and sixth grades. Completion of the first year will include concentration on early civilizations and cultures up to Mediterranean Empires. The following year will continue with the Medieval World to the Cold War.

Historical Biography
This class also has a biography to complete from A Wicked History Series--Cixi: Evil Empress of China? This book will be read both inside and outside of class and will include a reading guide and project that coincide with the subject matter.
