American History I
7th Grade
Class objectives
American History will explore the history of America from its Native American origins to the Civil War era. We will see the geographical, social, political, cultural and economic changes of America from its birth as a new nation to its struggle to maintain its founding principles as a united nation.
We will be studying the following events in American History this year:
American Historyis a two-part course for seventh and eighth grades. Completion of the first year will include concentration on Native American origins up to the Civil War. The following year will continue with the Reconstruction Era to Postwar America.

- New Empires in the Americas
- The English Colonies
- The American Revolution
- Launching the Nation
- The Jefferson Era
- The Age of Jackson
- Westward expansion
- The Civil War

Historical Biography
This class also has a biography to complete from the Wicked History Series--King George III: America’s Enemy. This book will be read both inside and outside of class and will include a reading guide and project that coincide with the subject matter.
